BiKBBI announces name change ahead of 20th anniversary

The British Institute of Kitchen, Bedroom, and Bathroom Installation (BiKBBI) has revealed plans to change its name as part of a series of strategic initiatives aimed at further strengthening its position. Starting October 1, 2025, the organisation will be known as The British Institute of Fitted Interiors Specialists (BIFIS). Along with the name change, a refreshed logo will be introduced, and a brand toolkit will be made available to help stakeholders prepare for the transition.

CEO Damian Walters explained that the name change is driven by several key strategic factors, including the ongoing development of the Fitted Interiors Apprenticeship and the institute’s prominent role in the Fitted Interiors Construction & RMI Super Sector review. “This change reflects our evolving focus and the valuable work we are doing within the sector,” said Walters.

The name update follows extensive research and feedback from key stakeholders, leading to subtle yet significant changes to the institute’s offerings. Walters added, “I’d like to extend my thanks to all those who contributed to our research and review process. While the name will change, our core mission remains the same – to serve as the leading institute for our industry. This feedback has been crucial in shaping our future direction.”

BiKBBI is the only government sanctioned UK institute dedicated to kitchen, bedroom and bathroom installation and they represent thousands of professional installation businesses nationally and work with the industry’s most prominent manufacturers, suppliers, distributors and retailers, as well as providing advice and support for consumers.

As BiKBBI approaches its 20th anniversary, the transition to BIFIS will provide the foundation to build on nearly two decades of industry reputation, with a focus on increasing consumer awareness. Currently, the institute’s accredited national membership includes over 5,000 installation businesses, alongside a strong network of specialist retailers, as well as major national and international manufacturers and suppliers.
