A number of press mentions have cited that Wren Kitchens ambitious showroom rollout has seen the retailer pass 150 world wide stores and that it intends to redouble its focus on the UK market to open a retail store “in every town and city in the country” over the next few years.
Darren Watts, Wren’s showroom development director told Kbb trade publication kbbreview about the company’s renewed emphasis on the UK market.
Watts was quoted in kbbreview commenting that, “After a successful start to 2025 in the US market, Wren is looking to end the year with more than 35 new locations opened in the country this year alone. With this in mind, we will now be refocusing on the UK market.
“Some of these openings will include small format high street stores like the one opening in Chiswick next week, but we’re looking to have several different store formats, not just the big format retail park stores we have had until now. Our goal is to establish a presence in every town and city across the UK over the coming years, as part of our long-term strategy and roll-out.”
Opening on Friday, June 13 in London’s Chiswick Green, the 6,000 sq ft kitchen and bedroom retail store cited by Darren Watts, Wren’s showroom development director, will have a vast 28 separate display bays, as well as a room configurator, door bar and visualiser, plus several VR bays.
Wren Kitchens Ambitious Showroom Rollout - Not Just in the UK
Whilst Wren Kitchens Ambitious showroom rollout in the UK is impressive, with Darren Watts saying the Wren wanted to “accelerate our openings to the same pace that we did a few years ago, such as when we had double-digit openings every year”. you would be forgiven that Wren's impressive plans are just focused in the UK.
However, it was only in January that Wren Kitchens USA opened its 15th United States location following a $30m investment in the east coast of the US when Wren (New Jersey) megastore was launched which features an an impressive 62 full-sized displays, consisting of kitchens, mudrooms and laundry rooms.
Of the US plans Raf Klimek, Wren Kitchens manufacturing and logistics director previously said upon announcing the continued US expansion, that “We’ve brought a unique concept to the American kitchen market for the very first time and it’s proving successful...The Northeast coast is a prime location for Wren in terms of connectivity, making it the perfect platform to continue our exciting expansion plans.”
With the franchise models of Ripples Bathrooms and Kutchenhaus bucking the performance of most other Kbb business in such challenging UK trading conditions and Wren forging ahead with its sustained and accelerating growth and expansion plans, it is evident that the management teams at Ripples, Kutchenhaus and Wren are clearly doing something very very effective. Whilst their business models are not directly transferable to all kbb businesses, perhaps it bodes well for more kbb independents to look at the successes of their industry peers and see if any lessons learnt can be applied to their own businesses?
