Is Green the most popular choice for people choosing a colour for their next kitchen, or is it just their next german kitchen from Kutchenhaus, whom made the bold claim in a recent post?
At first the team at Kitchens-Kitchens thought perhaps that Kutchenhaus had been misquoted and that the most popular choice for a kitchen colour trending, was 'green' as in being environmentally conscious. But no, apparently green really was the most popular colour choice in a survey from its showrooms.
Although the number of survey participants wasn't disclosed, the survey's results are based on responses from just 28 showrooms which took part from the 80 or so across its network so the survey couldnt have been that extensive.
Nadine Kimani, from Kutchenhaus explains of the survey results that: 'Green offers brilliant versatility and promotes a healthy-looking space, which can be soothing. The colour green evokes feelings of peace and nature, so to opt for this colour in the kitchen, a room which we spend a great deal of our time in at home, makes perfect sense.'
Still not overly convinced that the Kutchenhaus survey is truly representative of the UK population when it comes to a popular choice for a kitchen colour, we looked at some findings from Houzz and we also asked two other german kitchen designers for their comments about popular colour choices in 2025 and if they had noticed a shift, to green or other, similarly bold colour choices?
What Does Houzz Think About Most Popular Kitchen Colours?
Pink. Yes Pink. According to Houzz, pink is the most popular colour choice for 2025 and to justify its claim Houzz states that searches across its website for “pink” related home ideas have increased 2.5 times, with particular interest in pink bathrooms (up 114%), pink kitchens (up 112%), and pink bedrooms (up nearly 60%).
However, before Houzz noticed the 'surge' in searches for 'pink' Houzz did come out prior to its recent press release with a 2025 Home Trends Predictions post in which Houzz made a prediction that 'pink kitchens' would be a hit in 2025.
Given that Houzz is such a popular and widely used network, with some 70 million active users, you could argue that the reason for the search increase for "pink kitchens" is merely a response to Houzz users searching for proof that the trend for "pink kitchens" is real, or not, since Houzz made that prediction.
We could find no similar surge in Google Search Trends for the last twelve months. Tellingly, there was only 5 very brief instances were 'pink kitchens' was searched for in a manner that would be considered a 'surge', albeit a small one.
We asked Google SEO consultant Andrew Oakley from Edible UK his opinion. Andrew explained "What we see in the google search trends for popular choices for a kitchen colour and specifically 'pink' that there are 5 very brief spikes in search traffic and the start of a less steep surge in late June 2025. The 5 short spikes are almost entirely a response to online and social mentions from the likes of Kutchenhaus and Houzz with web users looking to see if there is a trend emerging, or not."
Andrew adds, "However, the fact that the spikes are short and less than a week exclusively points to the fact that people have responded to an external prompt, such as an online post or social media mention. They have then looked for themselves and ended their interest there and then. This isnt your atypical pattern for an emerging trend and I would say, somewhat conclusively that the likes of Houzz and to a lesser extent, Kutchenhaus are trying to generate traffic with a form of clickbait. Make a bold statement, get the clicks and try to capture some engagement."
What the Kitchen Designers Say About Pink Kitchens?
We spoke to head designer Andrew Dillon at Studio5, a Schuller kitchens retailer in north west england. Andrew commented "Not once in the last year have we been asked about a pink kitchen and that Schuller had a Pastel Rose colour choice in its Colour Concepts range that was scrapped for 2025, as it fell flat, is more indicative to me about what consumers actually want so no, I don't see any evidence of an upward trend in pink as a kitchen colour choice."
Hacker kitchens expert Michael from GermanKitchensLondon mirrors Andrews comments. Michael said "Im not buying into the hype around pink kitchens. Obviously, people are free to express themselves in their homes however they see fit and if someone really wants pink, we can make it work but I've never been asked for a pink kitchen in the last year, or the 15 years before 2025."
If Kitchens-Kitchens start to see a rise in kitchen designers posting client jobs featuring "pink kitchens" then fair enough, but until then, we remain skeptical of the pink kitchens prediction being among the Kbb trends for 2025 and to a lesser extent 'green kitchens' being a trend at Kutchenhaus and it would seem that both Google (looking at UK wide trends, or lack thereof) agree, particularly when it comes to pink.
Nice try Houzz!
