Does Your Kbb Business Need a Marketing Boost? We speak to Kbb marketing veteran Andy Oakley who has some 20 years direct experience working with Kbb independents.
So Andy, what are the best Social formats for a Kbb business?
Typicaly the best social media formats for kitchen and bathroom showrooms are high-quality visual posts (Instagram/Pinterest), short-form video (TikTok/Reels), and local SEO-driven content (Google Business Profile).
These formats excel at showcasing the Before/After transformations, design inspirations, and client testimonials to drive engagement.
Whilst uploading a case study with nice images to your website is great content for people landing on your website, social platforms such as Facebook and Instagram work better with Reels, the short form video. The very nature of scrolling on socials for engaging content makes text and flat images appear dull compared to those who do utilise more visually enticing formats.
Can Kbb independent's do their own marketing?
This comes down to ability really. If you can create content that improves your engagement with your target market, great, but if not, let the professionals take over.
Personally, some clients are very switched on and know how to make video whereas others are not not tech savvy and tend to struggle so they let me take over.
With marketing, there is such a thing as bad marketing and bad publicity so its best to get someone with experience, as thats what you are paying for. Just like Kbb independents are showcasing their superior product knowledge, design skills, creativity and professionalism over the big sheds, and are offering a premium service, a professional marketeer with Kbb experience can lead your product and tell you what has and hasn't worked for past clients.
What's one piece of invaluable advice for Kbb independent's
Put yourself in your customers shoes and ask yourself does your marketing make you stand out from your competitors enough that you would get in touch and make and enquiry?
The biggest disconnect I see time and time again is that there are some very talented Kbb independent's out there that rightly deserve to be very busy and they do great work, have a great portfolio of past and current work, but they just aren't promoting themselves and the work they do.
If you havent updated your website, your portfolio or your socials in more than a few months, you are already falling behind!
