Betta Living sales growth and deal with Next

Dean House PLC, the owner of fitted kitchens, bedrooms and bathrooms retail brand Betta Living, has reported a 61% increase in year-on-year sales during its key Boxing Day and January trading period which comes on the back of an “exceptional year” for the retailer, with its year-end results in November showing a 23% increase in turnover taking it to £39m.

During 2013 Betta Living also increased its retail estate by a further two stores, with its two newest showrooms in Bristol and Lakeside producing record figures for the business. It now operates in 33 retail locations offering a UK-wide service through its 160-strong network of designers who carry out in-home consultations.

Investment in Betta Living’s online presence has been another huge success story for the retailer, with online sales reportedly up 26% within the past 12 months.

A deal with Next to become its partner supplier on fitted kitchens further boosted sales in 2013 and saw Betta Living install more than 85 kitchen displays in Next stores up and down the country.

Chairman Noel Dean said: “We’ve invested heavily again this year, from new stores and store refurbishments to introducing a whole new bathroom product offer. It’s been supported by a myriad of marketing activity throughout the year that has helped to increase the all-important leads into the business. Our bricks and clicks model continues to work well for the business and we plan to continue to invest in both channels.”

Betta Living was founded in 1966 and still operates from its Oldham based head quarters. The company has also recently expanded to two new sites in the city, a new sales and marketing centre and a 160,000 ft logistics centre.  A new national training centre is scheduled to open May 2014.
